The house is buzzing right along

Sorry for our absence. The house is actually moving along at mach speed. Mike was there today so here’s an update: 1) Interior trim is done. 2) Cabinets are installed. 3) Last of the exterior siding is being completed today or tomorrow, rain pending. 4) All doors are installed. 5) Paint starts next both inside and out, as well as stain on the exterior doors and porch ceilings. 6) Stain color was chosen – MinWax Dark Walnut 7) Granite is being templated then installed next week. 8) Tile installation starts next week. 9) While tile goes in, lighting fixtures are installed. 10) Gas line to be installed next week. 11) Then driveway to be poured. On our to-do list is to purchase fans this weekend. Also, we need to determine exactly where we want the driveway and paths leading up to the house. Then next week, I need to meet with the apt. complex and tell them we only need the place through December. Starting Monday, we have exactly 8 weeks left. I have to say, despite the woman above us practicing her “Dancing with the Stars” routine last night at 1:15am, time has really flown by. I can’t believe we have 2 months left! That’s amazing, really. Wow. We’re heading to the house tomorrow so I can get pics. I’ll upload those later this weekend. Happy Friday!

The house color has been selected

Today was the day that we had to have all paint colors finalized - both inside and out. Mike and I went back and forth on the exterior color for quite awhile. Actually, I’m the nutty one who contemplated this for many, many weeks. I’m sure most of you are surprised (cough), and actually seeing an “Allison is crazy” theme running throughout this blog. Point proven, I even made some of you drive around with me to look at "inspiration houses," as we stalked the places that I liked with the Sherwin Williams color deck to find “just the right match.” For the record, we were not caught trespassing at any of the houses. Well, after all of your and our hard work, we have officially selected our house color. Ok, are you ready??? It’s called Retreat – which some of you will find extremely ironic, because “The Retreat” is the name of the apartment complex we’re living in during construction. This literally just dawned on me today when I handed over the color selections to the builder. All I can say is our new house will truly be a Retreat. “The Retreat” that we’re living in now is not properly named. Enough said. Here is where you can see the house color. Of course depending on the computer you are using and the monitor you have, this will look different to all of you but it’s a grey/green/blue color. It ended up being our “bold” choice vs. a more subtle grey or khaki that we were leaning towards. It’ll look great next to our Aesthetic white trim, chocolate brown gutters, dark brown stained doors and porch ceilings. They start painting next week so pictures to come!

Cabinet molding - it's official

So you know I went back and forth on cabinet molding and actually I had 100% of you say, "You have to have cabinet molding." Well, thanks for your advice because it's official, here's our cabinet molding. (And for the record, we think it looks really good!) I took a couple of extra pics to show you what a nice job you did.

*UPDATE* Cabinets have arrived!

Mike just got back from the house and all of the cabinets are there in boxes. They are to be installed this weekend so we'll be sure to get some pics up here ASAP.

The coffered ceiling is done!

Well, it needs to be painted. But check this out....how exciting!! Here's where we started with the coffers.

We have trim....
