Anyone looking for a photographer?

You know I love local photographers and especially ones who specialize in taking pics of little nuggets like Eloise.  Well, this one hasn't taken pics of Eloise yet, but that's a "yet" that won't be a "yet" for too long because she's great!  So for the rest of you, if you are looking for someone to snap some pics of your young-ins either at your place or some place in or around Charlotte, here's your girl... Sentences

One other post for this evening....the other day I was picking Eloise up from school. When we got into the car and started driving home she saw a school bus in front of us and said, "Mommy, that's a yellow school bus......(pause......)........driving up a big hill."  I looked in the rear view mirror and was just in shock. This little girl is certainly a jabber jaw, not that any of us should be surprised. Take one look at her mother. She mammers on all day long. 2, 3 and 4 word structures have been paired together for months. But a full-on sentence?? Here we go!

Rowsins

Eloise is big into snacks and at the moment, the top snack is raisins. Perfect. They're good for her, they're easy to give to her, she can be mobile with them, and she asks for them all the time. A real crowd pleaser. The funny part is that she calls them "rowsins". Even after I correct her.

Conversations typically go like this....."Mommy, rowsins. Rowsins."  "Eloise, raisins. They're called raisins."  Then she repeats me and says, "raisins" and I hand some over.  Typically my assistance corrects the mispronounciation. But for some reason, "raisins" just won't stick.  Instead, 5 minutes later we have a repeat.  "Mommy, rowsins."  "Eloise, raisins. They are called raisins."  "Raisins, mommy. Raisins."  5 minutes later...."Mommy, rowsins."  It's like Ground Hog Day around here. Ah!

She's a hopper

Courtesy of Gramma Judy, Eloise is now a full on hopper.  If you come 'round these parts you may even catch a little of the action. Here's how it goes...."1, 2, 3.....hop!" and both Gramma and Eloise leap up into the air with smiles on their faces. Hop!

I won't lie, at first I wasn't convinced Eloise was leaving the ground. She does count it down. She does holler out "hop". And she even bends her knees and gets ready to go. But were those little feet actually leaving the ground??  Why, YES!  They were!  Albeit, it might be roughly 1/4 to 1/2 inch but I'm telling you, there was definitely air between those little Vans and the ground. The best part?? She's so proud of herself for her new found talent!  And of course, Mommy and Gramma are super proud of her as well:)

Water table season

Temps are rising and so, of course, it's water table season. And for some crazy reason, my camera worked yesterday - I'm glad I bothered to give it a try - and so I was actually able to capture our "sausage Monkey" in her new two piece splashing and have a good ole time. "Sausage Monkey" refers to how absolutely cute her chub looks in this new suit. I believe you'll agree.  Since she's 2 I can call her a "sausage Monkey" and also since she's 2, I can say she's got some chub! Here we are .....water table season!

Great Harvest Bread Co 5k

Great showing for Miss Eloise today. Not so great showing for her Mommy.  Today was the Great Harvest Bread Co's 5k today and so Eloise and I busted out the baby jogger for the first time in quite a while. She was fantastic. Cheering on runners...."keep it going runners....." the entire time and even showed post race fans and finishers a little booty shake to the DJ playing.  I, on the other hand, slogged through a very hilly 3.1 miles with some pretty sore legs. (training a pinch too much as of late and my legs are starting to let me know.) The up hills were as painful as the down so you know that's not going to be a good day. But all in all, she and I enjoyed it and had some fun out there. We're thinking about doing another 5k in a few weekends. I need a little redemption and she needs to keep her Saturday morning dance party going on:). Today's race.....22:40 (7:18 painful minutes per mile. Lord!)

Camera woes round 2

As you've probably gathered, my camera is broken again. And after having a conversation with one of my photographer friends (like I have a ton or something), she told me I was dupped. I should have never listed to the camera Dr. I should have never bought a new lens and that rather, the Nikon D40 is notoriously riddled with issues, that it's amazing the camera took as many great pictures as it did, and that I need to just pack it up and call it a day.  Serious sigh action on that one.

But with that advice in mind, I've been on a hunt for a camera. She told me exactly what to buy (aperature no less than f8), and based on this, I'm looking at a pretty pricey number. Eek. With Eloise's 2nd birthday right around the corner, on top of the millions of hilarious moments I'm missing each and every day, I'm feeling the pressure to just seal the deal and get a new camera.

Anyway, I felt the need to explain why my blog is so sh*tty right now. There you have it. I feel like I can mammer on for only so many posts but until I have real pics to show how crazy big, super cute, and so utterly hilarious Eloise is, then I won't post as much. Stay tuned on mega expensive camera purchase that is truly cramping my savings account. Grrrrrr.......(frustration level is continuing to riiiissssseeeeee!)

She's on the loose

This is a week old but jotting it down nonetheless. Eloise has escaped the crib twice now (stuck the landing on both attempts as seen on the baby monitor) and is now on the loose.  Both incidents happened during nap time and she's not yet attempted to get out of the crib first thing in the morning. Yes, I'm in complete denial. Yes, I want her to go to middle school still sleeping in a crib.  Alas, my little girl is growing (measuring in at 34 inches as of late) and can no longer be contained by her crib, which has been my saving grace for the last 23 months.  I guess I need to start investigating a "big girl" bed, but I'm just not ready. She clearly is. I'm Not. Capital N. And, I'll say it again. I'm in Denial. Capital D. Sigh.

Baby Idol

She might be tone deaf (actually the jury is still out on this one. hopefully she's not like her mom:) and she may already be inclined to bust out a tune in the tub, but straight up A capella style, this girl is a singer!  As of late, Eloise will sing Old MacDonald to me and also her ABCs. Amazing. Truly. She starts both completely unprompted and then, of course, I can't help but join in the fun. What's cuter than a near-2-year-old selecting her own Old MacDonald animals and accompanying it with the standard e-i-e-i-o??  And her ABCs??? I couldn't be more proud. I started her a couple times......"ABCD....." and she takes it from there. She completes all 26 letters (26 is right, isn't it??) and then even concludes the song with ...."and now I know my ABCs. Next time won't you sing with me??"  Of course I will!!
