How hilarious is this pic?? Really check it out to get the full belly laugh. Ok, in real news... we've made updates to our registry based on super-mom recommendations. Thanks to you all! Also, the Vails from Lakewood were here this weekend and bought us our very own Baby Bjorn. We can't wait to see what happiness it brings us. And if it provides me a day where I get to stand next to Mike in his very own capris holding his little girl, then pure joy is certainly in my future.

Diaper bag and crib bedding progress

Mike and I headed over to Mary Jo’s in Gastonia this past weekend to check out the Amy Butler fabric they had in stock. What a cool place. For the fabric crafty in the area, this is the store to go to. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get myself around a sewing machine much less a pattern so I was strictly there to check out the inventory.

I had two items on my agenda – fabric for a diaper bag I’m having made by a super awesome Etsy seller. Here is the bag (but I selected different fabric). I purchased 2 yards – one for the interior and one for the exterior – and shipped those off this weekend. As soon as I get the finished product back, I’ll post some pics.

I was also there to see what kind of fabrics they had for the nursery. This project has proven to be a little trickier than I expected. There are lots of different fabrics to choose from but not a lot in the colors I’m looking for – apple green, deep fuchsia, white and chocolate brown. I’m thinking of heading in a different direction because really, all of the fabrics are gorgeous. Amy Butler and another fabric designer Heather Bailey have some of the best stuff.

I also scored on finding another Etsy.com craftswoman who will make the bedding for us (crib bumper, crib skirt, and blanket) once I find the fabric I like. She and I have been “convo-ing” back and forth and she’s been helping me a great deal.

Have I given enough plugs for Etsy.com? I love this place! If I was only creative, I’d set up my own shop! Ok, so yes – I agree with you and Mike – all of these projects would be much easier to accomplish if I just went to a store and bought these items. And I agree, this is a little more work for me/us, but so far, it’s been a cool adventure into the world of fabric that I didn’t know a thing about before. I'll keep you posted!

Mike’s back

And I will say…he woke me up last night to ask if I was messing with him because of my latest additions to the home. Quote, unquote…Mike said, “Honey, seriously what’s going on down stairs with the plants?” My response…”did you read the blog??” Then I went back to sleep.

So I just called him at work to talk through my latest additions and honestly, I’ve never laughed so hard. Mike is not pleased with the current “greenhouse” set up at the house. “Every where I look around here there is a freaking plant. This place is like a greenhouse! You are doing this just to BLEEP with me. Seriously, can we move some things around?” LOL!

Ok, so I’ll admit, I knew he’d freak about the additions, and there are a few more plants in the room than what I originally photographed for the blog. But that room gets a good amount of light, has the most furniture to hold plants and also has those great built-ins to display things. Perfect for my new indoor garden! But really, I’ll move some things around and spread them throughout the house.

I have to say though, this made my morning. Oh, one of his last comments… “What’s with those tall stick things on the right hand side of the fireplace? Those have to go.” LOL!

While Mike's away....

I buy and pot tons of new house plants and then muck up the bookcases with my new treasures!

And then just to taunt Mike with our new found clutter that he’s not aware of owning quite yet, I took a few pics and sent them to his phone while he's out of town and still in a meeting at 7:00pm at night.

The back story here...Mike is a "less is more" kind of guy when it comes to the house and decorating. And thankfully I subscribe to the same philosophy. Less clutter keeps the house clean, nothing is lying around that doesn't actually have a purpose, and all in all, we have no extra “stuff” here that just ends up collecting dust.

But, the problem is, too little “stuff” makes this place too sterile. So I needed to liven it up…and I did so with things that have a purpose (so hopefully Mike will agree with me that these new found treasures are for keeps!).

So here we go…I've decorated our bookcases with new plants, some sentimental art, a super cute pic of us, and even a great new box that will hold our tea lights for candles.

2nd snow fall of the year and 23 weeks...

We woke up to a surprise snow fall this week (the second of the year!). Usually the local news freaks out about even the hint of snow coming to the area days prior to it actually happening. This go round, no one had wind of it even coming. I woke up on Wednesday to let the dog out and couldn't believe when I opened the back door! Since I slacked off last time and didn't take pics until 2pm and everything was basically melted, this time I got right on the stick and snapped a couple.

Here we go...

 

And yes, in true southern fashion, the city basically shut down and the only people on the roads were the salt trucks and those of us that had to go to work no matter what. Interesting discovery though...we have salt trucks. I didn't know we had salt trucks!

Also, I'm officially 23 weeks so I thought I'd snap a pic. I'm always the jabber-jaw on this blog but never photographed. Yes, that's my doing:) I had a Dr's appt. on Tues. and everything is going really well!
