SRU holiday party

The Slippery Rock holiday party was a success. My only regret is not getting a picture of the Harris Teeter sheet cake that someone brought that said "We Rock U a Merry Christmas." Hilarious. You gotta love this crew. Oh, and I grossly overestimated the amount of food we needed. A party planner I am not. We will have leftovers for days. Days!

I think I've mentioned this before but Mike and nearly all of his college buddies decided Charlotte was the place to go when they graduated from school. One by one they completed their final days at SRU, packed up their cars and moved south. They've all since met and married their wives and nearly all have had kiddos. And the crew who was once about 10 guys has ballooned to a family of over 30. It's a great group of people to say the least. The wise cracks and comments never stop, poking fun at one another and just having a good ole time. We don't get together often enough but we have made our holiday gathering an annual tradition. And this year, we were the hosts. Fun! (btw - for those who wanted these recipes - here is the Macaroni and Cheese recipe and here is the Basic Vinaigrette recipe. both are simple and delish!)

Here are some pics from last night. The first is the group of boys (note their insanely large, newly purchased, retired Arena Football League trophy on the mantel behind them, which is now their Fantasy Football League trophy and will be awarded to one lucky winner (and one unlucky wife who will have this ridiculous trophy living in her house for one year). it's as heavy as it is large. if you click here, you can even see Jon Bon Jovi holding their trophy. yes, that's right. Jon Bon Jovi. the boys bought this on eBay and couldn't be happier. an antic like this is typical for this group.)

I've also added a pic of the SRU off-spring (we're missing one here who was a little tired and couldn't make the shot). We can only hope they too will be SRU grads some day. Lol. Lastly, I included a picture of a really pretty Christmas ornament that was given to us. Isn't this great? Apparently Vera Bradley has Christmas ornaments!
